Past UK Fossil Live/Open to all Events at Maylandsea
1st December 2002

INTRODUCTION

UK Fossils provided a day trip to Maylandsea. The location is popular for lobster fragments which can be found in nodules. The day was chosen during predicted scouring tides which would hopefully yield enough fragments for everybody to collect.

The Trip

12 Site visitors in total turned up in spite of torrential rain which had been forecasted for several days before hand. The rain was so heavy that the foreshore turned to bog land and walking was difficult. It was cold, it was extremely wet and everyone was very brave turning up. Most people managed to find at least one fragment of lobster, whilst another member found a sharks tooth. Some unusual, non fossil finds were made including an old 'Clay Pipe' which provided the highlight of the day for some. UK Fossils would like to thank those that came in such awful conditions.
